6 Month Update

Olivia went for her 6 month check-up on Wednesday, and we are growing an amazon woman! She is 28 inches long and is basically off the percentile chart for height! She is 18.6 lbs, which the doc said is perfect for her height, but it's also in the 95-97 percentile. She is still hitting every milestone right on time.... she's rolling over both ways, she passes objects between hands, she babbles, she sits supported...she's doing great! She's been eating rice cereal every morning, but she doesn't really seem to like it. So the doc said to go ahead and try veggies and fruit and see if there is a better response. She opens her mouth and takes the spoon, she just lets most of the cereal fall out of her mouth. So today we tried sweet potatoes...success! She didn't spit any of it out! So we'll keep doing sweet pototatos and add in another veggie next week. She's obviously getting plenty of nutrition from the formula, so we don't have to worry that we're starving her.

Easter was very low-key...just had dinner at my mom's along with my sister and her family. Olivia got an Easter songs CD, a "my first Easter" bunny/bear, and the Runaway Bunny board book. Next year we'll do her first Easter egg hunt!

In the next few months, Olivia should be sitting on her own and possibly crawling. For all we know, she''ll go straight to walking! We are also teaching her sign language, and she loves to see her name finger-spelled. I can't wait to see her do her first sign! More news next month...

5 Months Old!

As of last Sunday, Olivia is now 5 months old! I weighed her on our home scale and she is now 17 lbs 6 oz, and I measured her at 26 1/4 inches! She still loves blowing bubbles, she is discovering more of her toys (though hiding under the cloth diapers we use for burp cloths is one of her favorite things), and she still gets a big kick out of us singing the Itsy Bitsy Spider.

She discovered her toes a few weeks ago, but she has now found that she can get them to her mouth! Gotta admire the flexibility! This is definitely another picture we can torture her with when she starts dating! :-)

And she's enjoying her Baby Einstein activity jumper...especially her own reflection!! She is so adorable, can you blame her!?! I love that she gives me so many great opportunities to use my photography skills to take fun pictures!!

USF Baby

I found these pictures and realized that they were too cute to not post. We wore these outfits on New Year's Eve when USF was playing in the bowl game. I bought that baby outfit forever ago, as evidenced by the old USF bull design. She's wearing little Bulls socks too! At least she got to wear the outfit once!

Eventful Week

This has been an eventful week for Little Miss Olivia... Last week, Nonny and PopPop came through with Grandma Margaret on their way to Homestead, and we took pictures!

This week, Nonny came back with her best friend Kathy, and Kathy's daughter Nikki, and they babysat for us on Monday since both Richard and I had to work. They discovered what an easy-going baby Olivia is!

I bought Olivia the Baby Einstein musical motion activity jumper. Height-wise it's good, but she doesn't quite have the core strength necessary to be in it without a towel wrapped around her middle. She's having fun hitting the keyboard buttons though!

We also discovered that Olivia is getting her very first tooth, and she rolled from her tummy to her back for the first time on Tuesday! Tonight she almost went from her back to her tummy, but stopped just short of going all the way. Two milestones in one week though...whoo hoo!!

Mommy Group

Olivia and I went to our first Mommy/Baby group on Valentine's Day. Olivia got to "play" with Timothy, who is about 6 weeks older than she is, and Mackenzie, who is about 3 weeks older. I say "play" because the kids pretty much did their own thing while the mommies chatted. I know Sally (Timothy's mom) and Melissa (Mackenzie's mom) through USF. It was nice to sit and chat with other new moms about all of the fun, challenges, and quirkiness of being a new mom. Who knew that babies would changes us so much?!?

Of course, I didn't think to take a picture of the other mommies and babies (I'll remember to do that next time), but I do have pictures of Olivia looking adorable on Valentine's Day!

Our Disney Trip

We recently visited Disney with mom and my sister and her family. This time we stayed at the Saratoga Springs resort. Olivia is still too young for the parks, so we enjoyed a nice day walking around Downtown Disney and going to the Rainforest Cafe, another day sleeping late and walking around the Saratoga Springs Resort, and the final day at the Ohana character breakfast at the Polynesian Resort. Here are some of our highlights!

Olivia doesn't understand why the rainforests are in jeopardy and need to be rescued. Hopefully this is an issue that will improve as she gets older!

4 Month Check-up

Olivia went for her 4 month check-up last Tuesday and is doing great! She is in the 95th-97th percentile for height at 25 3/4 inches, and is in the 50th-75th percentile for weight at 15 lbs 13 oz. So we are growing an Amazon woman!! She's already wearing 9 month size outfits!

The doc said she is hitting all her milestones so far and is strong (putting weight on legs, holding head up, etc.). And she is such a happy baby! There was a brief cry during the injections, but she recovered quite quickly and was smiling again.

Richard is currently in Vegas with Scott (his brother) and Sean (long-time friend from high school)... watching the Superbowl, drinking beer, and being Star Trek geeks... So Olivia and I are enjoying a few days of girl time, with a little bit of Grandma thrown in. Tomorrow we'll do a little shopping and on Wednesday night, Daddy comes home!

Here are some of our favorite new photos of our little princess!

Sleeping on her "couch recliner"...which is really just a combo of some pillows and her boppy. It's a great way for her to sleep while I sit next to her and work on the laptop!

This is her Disney Princess onesie. She's about to outgrow it, but we'll take it to our next Disney trip this week so she can get some wear out of it. Look how strong her legs are!

This is a pink car that is part activity center, part walker, that was given to us by a friend. It's a good test to see if she likes something like this as I'm exploring the various "exersaucers/jumpers" that are out there. There are so many to choose from...ugh!

This was her first attempt at eating rice cereal. She's not sure she really likes it and she pushed most of it out. The doc said to try again every so often and one day she will decide that she loves it! After that, we'll venture into veggies.... yum!

Though you can't tell from this picture, she really enjoys her baths. I just love her expression in this picture, and I'm sure we can use it someday to torture her when she starts dating... :-)
